As you might have notices, we have this useful and cool new quick search feature which will save a some time and clicks. Today we're gonna tell you how to use it, and that's not all: we also made it possible to search straight from the browser without opening SnowDB first!

Until now, we had 3 search modes:

  • simplified "express" – for novices;
  • "advanced" – to fine-search by any parameter(s);
  • "catalog" – to browse collections.

And what if you only need quick find that board that you need, or get a list of boards filtered by top parameters? For this, the best option is to use quick search mode; its input field is situated right in the main menu:

Quick search field in the main menu

How it works: it will look for the word or word combination you specify among full (brand name + model name + season) models names. For instance, if you type in:

  • brand name – it will give you a full list of all the boards from that brand;
  • model name – you'll get a list of models of this name from all brands;
  • season (specify the second part: 2008/2009 → 2009) – SnowDB will display all boards of that season.

And if you search by the combination of:

  • brands name + season – you will get all models of that season;
  • brands name + models name – SnowDB will list all the models of that brand;
  • models name + season – it will show you info about that board you requested.

We went even further and made an add-on (a module to search SnowDB straight from your browser) with OpenSearch technology, which is supported by modern user agents such as MS Internet Explorer 7 and of course Firefox (Microsoft Internet Explorer users, download and start using that beautiful software today – using Internet will become faster, secure and more stable). It is expected that some other browsers will add OpenSearch support, like Opera, Internet Explorer 8, and probably Google Chrome.
